What is Etsy?
Etsy.com is an online marketplace for artists and crafters to sell their works. Officially, it is "Your place to buy and sell all things handmade." Etsy is a venue, not a retailer; it is collection of independent shops, each run by a different artisan.

Who created Etsy?
The idea for Etsy originally came from Robert Kalin (Rokali [1]). He soon enlisted the help of programmers Chris Maguire (RevolvingDork [2]) and Haim Schoppik (Haim [3]). After some persuading, Flash programmer Jared Tarbell (Jared [4]) also joined the team.
